Biscuits & Chocolate Gravy

Biscuits

Ingredients:
2 1/2 C. Bisquick baking mix
1 tsp. baking powder
2/3 C. plus 1 Tbsp. buttermilk (use a little more if needed)

Preparation:
Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Mix Bisquick, baking powder, and buttermilk until blended. On a floured board need dough about ten times, dough should be easy to roll out, but not dry. Roll dough out to 1/2" thickness and cut biscuits 2 1/2" diameter. Place biscuits on an ungreased baking dish, or cookie sheet and brush the tops of the biscuits with melted butter or bacon grease if you desire. Bake biscuits 8 - 12 minutes or until done.

Chocolate Gravy

Ingredients
1/3 cup sugar
1 ½ Tbsp. all-purpose flour
1 ½ Tbsp. Hershey's cocoa
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1 tsp. vanilla extract


Preparation
  1. Whisk together first five ingredients in a small saucepan.
  2. Bring to boil over medium heat, whisking constantly.
  3. Boil, stirring often, until thickened and bubbly.
  4. Stir in butter and vanilla.
  5. Serve over biscuits or shortbread. Yields 1 ¼ cups.
